Douglas Din, Andra Stoicanescu and Debbie Kelly: Going the Extra Mile Awards
Excellent news now in the form of some extraordinary efforts by members of our Estate Services Team, who recently went the extra mile when faced with an unusual and unsavoury problem. Area Manager, Nikki Walker, elaborates:
I am very pleased to be able to award Andra Stoicanescu, Contract Manager, with a GEM award. Recently a tenant vacated a property unexpectedly, following reports of a bad smell from neighbours, Andra, along with her colleague, volunteered to attend and clear and clean the flat to remove the odour.
The tenant’s electricity had been turned off and so all of the food (raw meat, vegetables, open tins, etc.) in her fridge had begun to rot, causing a rancid smell which permeated throughout the entire property. This did not stop Andra and her colleague from getting stuck in, and between them they cleaned the entire kitchen and fridge, and removed seven black bags of rotten food from the property.
Andra has shown that she truly understands what delivering excellence looks like and I think you’ll agree that she certainly went the extra mile to ensure that other residents in the block had a clean and pleasant environment to live in. A thoroughly well-deserved award, Andra! Andra, in turn, nominated her colleague Debbie for her sterling efforts on the day, writing ‘I will take this opportunity to congratulate Debbie for all her great efforts to support the housing team in helping residents in need. Debbie volunteered to help with the removal of the perishable and spoiled food from one of the flats on the estate as the smell was unbearable for the neighbours. Working as a team, together with Housing Manager, Yasmin, we managed to dispose of the food and tidy up the kitchen in no time. Debbie’s goodwill and involvement proved one more time that working together we can always overcome challenges, do more and achieve excellence through our actions.’
Finally, huge congratulations to Douglas Din who has also scooped a GEM award. Andra tells us more: It’s always a pleasure to reward my team members when they go above and beyond their role, today it’s Douglas’ turn to receive the GEM award for going the extra mile through his involvement and offering help when it’s needed.
Douglas is always at the heart of the team and willing to help when cover is needed or if we got last minute grounds maintenance requests. Douglas is the link between his residents and I, assuring effective communication and problem solving in real time. Thank you very much, Doug. Keep up the good work!
